Colombia AI Regulation Bill (P.L. 025/2026 Cámara)

A new attempt at a general AI law in Colombia, filed in July 2026. Its explanatory statement describes chapters on R&D incentives, transparency and accountability, risk classification, worker training and cross-border data. The same document says the government-backed bill 043/2025 Senate - 324/2025 House was archived after failing first debate.

What this means for you

If you build AI

  • Not law. Colombia has no general AI statute; earlier bills, including the 2025 government bill, were archived. This one is at the very start of the process.

If you deploy AI

  • No AI-specific duties yet. Colombia's data protection law (Ley 1581 de 2012) still governs personal data used by AI.

If you use AI

  • Proposed protections are only at the filing stage.
