Kazakhstan Law on Artificial Intelligence
Central Asia's first dedicated AI statute. It sets principles for AI systems and makes owners, holders and users responsible according to their role. It bans AI systems that use subliminal or manipulative methods or process personal data unlawfully, requires labelling of goods, works and services made with AI, and sets up a national AI platform.

What this means for you
If you build AI
- Do not build or operate AI systems in Kazakhstan that use subliminal or manipulative techniques or process personal data in breach of data protection law. These are banned.
- Owners and holders of AI systems carry responsibility for them according to their role.
If you deploy AI
- Label goods, works and services you produce with AI for customers in Kazakhstan.
- As a user of an AI system in your business, you share responsibility for how it is operated.
If you use AI
- You should be told when goods, works or services were created with AI.
- Manipulative AI systems and AI that unlawfully collects your personal data are prohibited.
