California Generative AI Training Data Transparency Act (AB 2013)
Developers of generative AI systems or services made publicly available to Californians (including substantial modifications) since Jan 1, 2022 must post documentation on their website about the training data, including a high-level summary of the datasets, their sources, and whether they include personal information or copyrighted material. Must be updated for each new release.

If you build AI
- Post a training-data summary on your website for each public generative AI system or substantial modification since 2022, and update it with each release.
- Fine-tuning counts: the law treats testing, validating and fine-tuning as training.

- If you fine-tune or substantially modify a model and offer it to Californians, you may be a developer with your own posting duty.

- You can look up a developer's website for a summary of what data trained its generative AI system.
