Executive Order 14434 (Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence)

A terminology order. Executive agencies must use 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' instead of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in correspondence, websites, reports and other non-statutory documents. For now the terms mean the same as the existing statutory definition of AI (15 U.S.C. 9401(3)). It sets no new duties on companies.

What this means for you

If you build AI

  • No new obligations. Federal documents and solicitations may now say 'Super Intelligence' or 'SI' where they used to say 'AI'; the legal meaning is unchanged for now.

If you deploy AI

  • If you search federal notices, grants or contracts, search for 'SI' and 'Super Intelligence' as well as 'AI'.

If you use AI

  • This changes the words the government uses, not your rights. A proposed new legal definition is due to the President by late November 2026.
