The Verge's local-AI diary: Hermes Agent and Qwen on a 256GB Mac Studio

A Verge reviewer runs the open-source Hermes Agent with Qwen 3.8 Flash Next, a 125-billion-parameter model, on an M5 Ultra Mac Studio to sort a Steam library and crunch private data.

Why it matters: Privacy decided which tasks the reviewer would hand over, but a daily briefing broke several times: local agents still need tending.

Talorys runs a personal AI agent in your own Cloudflare account

Talorys is an MIT-licensed, single-user assistant with memory, tasks and scheduled reminders, its GitHub README says. It runs on Cloudflare's free tier with no server run by its developers; a Hacker News thread drew 259 points.

Why it matters: Self-hosting an agent is getting cheap. Its README warns free quotas can change and adds caps on daily AI requests and tool calls.
